The success of the adult cricket at Esher CC is built on the foundation of its youth.
Several years ago, the club committed to investing heavily in the development of Junior and Youth cricket and provide a path for young cricketers to play Adult cricket as they went through the age groups. The ambition was that in time all of the adult sides would be well represented by ‘home grown’ players that are committed to the club .
We are proud of what we have achieved and continue to invest:
In 2023, 65 boys played adult cricket, 15 boys played in our Premiership 1st XI & 2nd XI teams and 70 boys were involved in Surrey CCC Performance programs.
In 2021, our U13 ‘s were National ECB Champions!
Membership is available to all players from 5+. New players are welcome!

Esher CC membership comprises access to one of the best cricket grounds in Surrey including four youth cricket squares.The home facilities at both Imber Court and New Road provide us with great flexibility and pitches to play. In 2023 we organised over 700 fixtures for our members. This provides all our young players the opportunity to learn and play the game, on well maintained pitches.
In addition, New Road nets facility was upgraded in 2023 into a first-class 7 lane net facility.
All these investments ensure we continue to enjoy the best playing facilities available in the area.
Professional Approach to Coaching for all abilities – All training is designed and led by professional coaches
For many years, Esher CC cricket teams have achieved tremendous success across all age groups, leagues and cup competitions. In 2021, our U13 Boys were crowned ECB National T20 Champions.
As a club, Esher CC boasts one of the highest number of young cricketers participating in the Surrey County performance programme. Over 70 young cricketers last season!
This success is in no doubt down to the access to excellent facilities, our ethos of developing and providing plenty of matchplay opportunities for every player, but also the very best coaching that Esher CC delivers. Whilst we rely on parental support for team management/administration, we are proud to be able to exclusively offer professional coaching of the highest calibre to develop, coordinate and coach all junior training sessions, rather than relying on parents.
It is this professional approach that enables Esher CC to stand out among other clubs. We aim to coach in small groups well within the club mark guidelines to provide the best possible coaching outcomes for all of our young cricketers.

The club also works closely with Surrey CC to support the development of all youth cricket across Surrey. Our training and matchplay programmes are designed so that all abilities develop and enjoy playing.
Professional Coaches of the Highest Calibre
Our young cricketers are extremely fortunate to have Duncan Pauline directing the coaching. Duncan is one of the most experienced coaches of youth cricket in England. Duncan played over 100 First Class and List A matches over his career for Surrey CCC. Duncan is also the most successful all-rounder in the history of top flight Surrey Club Cricket, he has been involved with the club for 25 years and coaching cricket for more than 40 yrs.
Duncan is ably supported by a team of coaching staff led by Sohail Ahmed (Pakistan A and Lahore). Sohail has played / coached cricket at Esher CC for the last 13 years, he also has played over 100 First Class and List A matches.
Khurram Irshad, coaches our junior section and is a fast bowling coach. He has played 1st Class cricket in Pakistan, represented Pakistan “A” and was part of their elite academy. He plays for our 1st XI.
Top-order batsman and off-spin bowler, Nic Smit, joined us in the 2022 season, he comes with current 1st class Provincial South African experience and 8 years coaching experience. He’s played and captained first class and List A for North West Dragons.
In all, Esher CC last season appointed a coaching staff that altogether had played over 250 First Class Matches. No other Club or County can come close to the experience we can offer.
